FLAMENCO PROP TECHNIQUE

FLAMENCO PROP TECHNIQUE

FLAMENCO PROP TECHNIQUE

For one hour, once a week, these in-person or virtual lessons will work in the correct use of Abanicos and Pericones (fans), Mantones (shawls) and Bastones (Flamenco canes) danced by Palos del Flamenco such as Alegrías, Guajiras, Tango and Polirritmias. As a dancer progresses on her flamenco journey, these props are creatively added to the mix. As if keeping the rhythmic timing of body, arms, and feet isn’t hard enough, we also learn how to integrate these beautiful but tricky dance accessories with our movements. These accouterments most assuredly add an extra sense of technique, elegance, musicality, visual appeal and overall oomph to a performance.

Dancers must attend classes with a long flamenco skirt, flamenco shoes and a black leotard or T-shirt (either short or long sleeves). Abanico, Pericon, Manton de Manila or Manton regular and cane will be used during these lessons.
